This November, KT Turnstall is heading to North America in support of her latest album, Tiger Suit. Her tour kicks off at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver on Nov. 1 and wraps up on Dec. 1at New York's Terminal 5.
Additional stops along the way includes Oct. 31 at Portland's McMenamins Bagdad Theater; Nov. 11 at the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood, Calif.; and Nov. 26 at the Trocadero in Philadelphia.
Tiger Suit, which debuted in October, is KT Tunstall's third studio album. It features the popular songs "Fade Like a Shadow" and "(Still a) Weirdo."
Throughout her youth in Scotland, KT Tunstall wasn't exposed to much music in her home life, though in her prep school she picked up guitar, piano and flute.
In college, she created her first band, though it wasn't until she was in her 20s that she was signed to a record label after having heard her perform with several indie bands.
With Relentless Records, Tunstall released her debut album Eye to the Telescope in 2004. After several small gigs in support of the album, it was re-released and jumped to No. 3 on the UK charts. Eventually, Tunstall received a Mercury Music Prize nomination for the album.
Though she had "made it" overseas, it wasn't until American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee chose to sing "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" that her American fan base increased, as did her song's ranking on the Billboard charts.
Her second studio album, Drastic Fantastic, debuted in September 2007. Her fan base and the popularity of the first album added to the success of her second album, and it landed within the top ten in the Scottish, UK and U.S. album charts.
Following the release of her second album in 2007, Tunstall also released a Christmas album, recorded a song for an indigenous rights organization and contributed to Suzanne Vega's album.
In January 2010, Tunstall set to work on her third studio album, Tiger Suit, which hit shelves in October.
