News and Information
Korn created what has become known as the nu, or industrial, metal sound, and have influenced numbers of bands since its inception in 1993.

Jonathan Davis, Reginald "Field" Arvizy, James "Munky" Shaffer and Brian "Head" Welch formed the group after the collective L.A.P.D. broke up. The bands first release was "Neidermeyers Mind," in 1993. The demo included the tracks 'Predictable," "Blind," "Daddy" and "Alive." The group took traditional heavy metal sounds and added hip-hop influences, creating a sound all their own.

While the unique sound brought them above their peers in time, it initially made them hard to sign. They werent Seattle Grunge rock - they were more vicious. Immortal/Epic Records finally signed the group, and "Korn" was released in 1994. "Blind" was the first single, and is the most popular track they have released to this day. Many critics have sighted this album as the first nu-metal album ever released.

Touring was next up for the group - they traveled the country with Marilyn Manson, Megadeth, 311 and Fear Factory to develop legions of fans. "Life is Peachy" was the next release from the group - it was a different sound from their debut, including pseudo-funk, bagpipes and heavy guitars. The album included the hit songs "A.D.I.D.A.S." and "No Place to Hide." Korn opened for Britney Spears the following summer, and worked to promote the album on the internet. The efforts were a success - the album hit No.3 on The Billboard 200 album charts and "No Place to Hide" received a Grammy nomination for Best Metal Performance. The followed the success by co-headlining Lollapalooza in 1997 with Tool.

"Follow the Leader" was the third album from the group, and it catapulted them into mainstream success. A number of artists joined Korn on the album, including Ice Cube, Fred Durst, Tre Hardson from Pharcyde and actor Cheech Marin. The group toured extensively behind the album, creating the "Family Values" tour, which included "fan conferences." The album did extremely well - it hit No. 1 on the albums chart and even scored a Granny Award for Best Video (Short Form) for "Freak on a Leash."

The next album, "Issues" came in 1999, and notably drifted away from hip hop and included a number of other sounds instead, including backup vocals. Hit singles included "Falling Away From Me" and "Somebody Someone." In 2002, the band released "Untouchables," which featured a more melancholy sound than any of the bands other albums. Hits included "Here to Stay" and "Alone I Break."

The band released a best-of collection and released "Korn: Live at CBGB" in 2004. In 2005, Welch left the band over a number of personal issues, including an addiction to crystal meth and an interest in religion.

"See You on the Other Side" was released in 2005 and included the hits "Twisted Transistor" and "Coming Undone." While Jonathon Davis suffered a blood platelet disorder in the summer of 2006, the band has been recording a new album.
