Kings of Leon Background Information
Kings of Leon are a rock group with an eclectic mix of blues, southern rock, and alternative soul. The family group consists of three brothers and a cousin, Nathan, Caleb, Jared and Matthew. Leon is the name of Nathan, Caleb and Jareds father and grandfather, and the namesake of the band. The brothers traveled with their father, traveling United Pentecostal Church preacher. They were home schooled, and were occasionally drafted to perform with the churchs choirs. When the brothers moved to Nashville after their father resigned from the church, they met up with Matthew and formed the bed in 2000. Originally the group was country-oriented, but moved onto rock, citing the Rolling Stones as a major influence. The quartet first released the "Holy Roller Novocaine EP" in SOMETHING - many of the tracks were then re-released on their next album, "Youth and Young Manhood," the real break-out album for the group. The band became particularly popular in Europe, after being chosen by The Strokes and U2 to tour with them. The song "Red Morning Light" was used as the opening song for the video game "FIFA 2004," which gained them even more popularity. The track "Holy Roller Novocaine" was used in the films "Stuck on You," "Talledega Nights: The Ballad or Ricky and Bobby" and the TV show "The Shield." The second full-length album from the band was "Aha Shake Heartbreak," released in the UK in October of 2004 and the US in February of 2005. The album was critically acclaimed, as the group embraced more of a southern rock sound. Popular tracks from the album include "The Bucket," "Four Kicks" and "King of the Rodeo." "Because of the Times" was released in early April, 2007. The album was named after a UPC ministers conference in Alexandria, Louisiana, which the brothers frequented as children. The album debuted at No.1 in the UK, and No.25 in the U.S. This past summer, the band began a massive tour in Europe, and they are also working on tracks for a new album - some of the songs were written before "Times" was released. The band has acknowledged that they have increased their musical scope, and are exploring the southern country roots more in the upcoming album than they have before. Information about GreatSeats.com
