Kid Rock Background Information
Kid Rock came onto the music scene as a novelty - a rapping rocker with long dirty hair and pride in being "straight ''out the trailers" - and has banked in on his sound, selling more than 22 million albums over his ten years in the mainstream. Kid Rock actually began performing at the tender age of 11 in Michigan with the b-boy group "The Furious Funkers," inspired by Run DMC and The Beastie Boys. Throughout high school he was a DJ and performed in a hip-hop group. He released a number of controversial albums, and never found success as he was rising at the same time Vanilla Ice was on his way down the charts - and white rappers were condemned. Kid Rock began his own label, Top Dog, and continued to hone his craft. He worked as a janitor in the studio to pay for recording time, and eventually found success throughout Michigan. In 1997, then-Atlantic Records President Jason Flom caught Kid Rock at a showcase and liked what he heard, signing him immediately. Later that year, Kid Rock released "Devil Without a Cause." The album included the massive hit "Bawitdaba," the anthem of that summer. The successful follow-up single was the country-infused track "Cowboy." Eventually, the album sold 11 million copies and ranks in the 60 best-selling albums of all times. The collection garnered him two Grammy Award nods and helped to score him a spot on two tours with Metallica. "The History of Rock" was next in 2000, which included a number of remixed and re-recorded tracks. The one new track, "American Bad Ass," became well known in the World Wrestling Entertainment world as the entrance song for The Undertaker. In 2002, Kid Rock released "Cocky," the official follow-up to "Devil." The collection was infused with much more country than Kid Rocks debut, including the hits single "Picture," a ballad featuring Sheryl Crow. The album was certified Gold and eventually sold five million copies. Kid Rock filmed an episode of Crossroads for CMT with Hank Williams Jr. The episode drew a record-breaking audience, more than 2.1 million viewers. Next came an eponymous album in 2003, including the Bad Company cover "Fee Like Makin Love," as well as the singles "Cold and Empty," "I Am" and "Jackson, Mississippi." The album was hailed as one of the 50 Greatest Albums of 2003 by Rolling Stone Magazine. It seemed, with this album, Kid Rock was finally embracing his Southern Rocker within. After the live album "Live Trucker" in 2006, Kid Rock released "Rock N Roll Jesus" in the fall of 2007. The collection was his first No.1 album, fueled by the success of "So Hott" and "Amen." In 2008, legendary rapper Reverend Run worked with Kid Rock and released an album called "Running with the Kid," similar to Eric Clapton and B.B. King's "Riding with the King." He also appeared on Lil Jon's "Crunk Rock." GreatSeats.com uses secure servers to process your order for the Kid Rock tour. You may also purchase Kid Rock Tickets by phone at 1-800-664-5056.
