Kenny Chesney
News and Information |
Kenny Chesney is one of the premiere country artists of his generation, known for his feel-good songs that even the least likely country fans can enjoy, which often lead to a cult-like following at his summer concerts, rarely leaving any seats up for grabs.
Chesney began his recording career in 1994 with "In My Wildest Dreams," released off of an independent label. While most of his commercial hits in the late 90?s seemed to be ballads such as "You Had Me From Hello," he picked up the tempo with hits like "She Thinks My Tractor?s Sexy" in 1999, "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem" in 2003 and "When the Sun Goes Down" in 2004. All of these songs give him the reputation of a fun-loving country boy that he enjoys today.
As his career progresses, Chesney seems to be focusing more on tropical islands, in the same vein as fellow country star Jimmy Buffett. In 2005, he released "Be As You Are," which was almost entirely written in the U.S. Virgin Islands and has a clear island theme. He was even featured on Buffett?s "License to Chill" album in 2004 with the collaboration "Hey Good Lookin."
In addition to all of Chesney?s hits throughout the years, he as also amassed quite a number of awards and honors, including the Country Music Television Entertainer of the Year in 2005, 2006 and 2007, the Academy of Country Music?s Entertainer of the Year in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007, and the People?s Choice Male Vocalist of the Year in 2007.
In the summer of 2007, he kicked off his Flip Flop Summer Tour, which also features performances from Brooks & Dunn, Sara Evans and Sugarland, among others. In addition, he plans to bring lend his excellent live presence to the revival of "Unplugged" for MTV, VH1 and CMT.
