Katy Perry News and Information Katy is currently on the road for the "Hello Katy Tour" 2009, playing small clubs and appearing at festivals throughout the spring.

At this time last year, no one knew who Katy Perry was. In fact, before 2008, Katy Perry was only known for the gospel Christian album she released in 2001 and a few music video appearances she made for P.O.D. and Gym Class Heroes (with then-boyfriend Travis McCoy).

Now, Katy Perry has become a household name with songs like "I Kissed a Girl" and "Hot and Cold." Perry's currently touring the United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark, Germany, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Japan and the United States. The tour is scheduled to last through July.

Perry's opening act will be Alphabeat, an already platinum band from Denmark who are making their first appearance in the U.S.

Katy Hudson, the daughter of two pastors, was born and raised in Santa Barbara, Calif. After graduating from Dos Pueblos High School in 2003, she moved to Los Angeles and adopted her mother's maiden name, Perry, so she could differentiate herself from actress Kate Hudson.
Perry's biggest influences include Cher, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett and Shirley Manson.
