Dominican singer Juan Luis Guerra is playing a few dates in the U.S. this summer, continuing to support his massively popular 2007 album "La Llave de mi Corazon."
Guerra has developed quite a name for himself across the globe, selling over 14 million records and taking home ten Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards.
Guerra taught himself how to play the guitar, marking influences as the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, the Rolling Stones, Pat Metheny and pianist Chick Corea. Guerra studied at the Santo Domingo conservatory as well as the Berklee College of Music in Boston to study composition and arrangement.
Guerra released his debut album, "Soplando," in 1984 with the group Juan Luis Guerra y 440. The group released three albums together, archiving international success. He found critical acclaim with "Bi es lo Mismo ni es Igual" in 1995. He took some time off to raise a family until he got back into the game with "Para Ti" in 2004. The album went in more of a religious direction, reflecting changes in Guerras life.
Over the years, Guerra has become more involved in the American music scene. In February of 2006, he was part of The Rolling Stones A Bigger Bang Tour, and he has been scheduling more shows in the U.S.
