Jim Brickman Background Information
Jim Brickman is one of few American composers to break into the mainstream, thanks in part to his original love songs that pair him with popular vocalists. The pianist began his career at 19 when he was hired by Jim Jenson to write songs for Sesame Street. He also spent time writing commercial jingles while attending the Cleveland Institute of Music. Brickman signed with Windham Hill Records and released "No Words" in 1994. "Rocket to the Moon" was the first solo instrumental single to ever be ranked on the Billboard charts. His commercial success has continued throughout his career - four of his albums, "By Heart," "Picture This,: "The Gift" and "Destiny" have all been certified Gold by the RIAA, selling over 500,000 copies. Arguably Brickmans most famous single is "Valentine" with Martina McBride. Other popular songs include "The Gift" with Collin Raye and Susan Ashton, "Im Amazed" with Lila McCann, "Love of My Life" with Michael W. Smith, "After All These Years" with Anne Cochran and "You" with Jane Krakowski. While Brickman thrives when creating piano compositions and love songs, he also has dabbled in a number of other genres. He arranges childrens music and he also released two Christmas-themed albums and arranged Christian music for the 2005 album "Grace." Outside of studio records, Brickman hosted "Your Weekend with Jim Brickman" on the radio in 1997. In 2006, he sponsored the First Annual Jim Brickman Valentines Day Cruise with Carnival Cruise Lines. He also starred on the PBS Specials: "My Romance: An Evening with Jim Brickman," "Love Songs & Lullabies" and "The Disney Songbook." In the past 13 years, Brickman has released 17 albums. In addition to all of his recording, he regularly tours to reach out to fans and spread his romance around the globe.
