Jeff Foxworthy

News and Information
While some comedians tend to fade with time as their style of humor goes into the background, Jeff Foxworthy is still a huge name in comedy after two decades in the business.

Foxworthy is known for his southern humor, mostly poking fun of redneck stereotypes. The comedian, who grew up in Atlanta, Ga., tried his hand at stand-up comedy on a dare and eventually quit his day job at IBM to pursue the art. While in the beginning he focused toward situational humor, his mocking of the redneck culture was what made him a star.

Foxworthy blasted onto the comedy scene with the "You Might Be a Redneck if?" CD which created the redneck fad after Warner Bros. bought out his contract from a smaller label and promoted it ? eventually, the collection hit No. 3 on the Billboard country charts ? it was the biggest-selling comedy album of all time. "Games Rednecks Play" hit No. 2 on the charts when it was released in 1995, and even wound up on the top of the pop Top 10.

After his initial success, he tried his hand at a television sitcom, which wasn?t as popular as his albums. He then turned to music ? 1996?s "Crank It Up: The Music Album" was certified Gold by the RIAA and was on the country Top Five. He then took to the road ? the 1998 live album Totally Committed was a result of his travels, and it was another Top Ten staple. He moved over to DreamWorks and released "Big Funny" in 2000.

While some expected Foxworthy to fade away instead of match his previous success, he proved to be much craftier than that: in 2000, he teamed up with Ron White, Larry the Cable Guy and Bill Engvall for the extremely popular Blue Collar Comedy Tour, which led to an album of highlights and a concert film in 2003. Eventually, the tour turned into a WB Television Network, "Blue Collar TV." Foxworthy was the executive producer and a star ? he eventually took the show to Country Music Television with the name "Foxworthy?s Big Night Out." Blue Collar Comedy Radio airs on Sirius Satellite Radio.

Foxworthy has taken a step back from his redneck roots and instead is focusing on making stupidity funny. He is the host of the FOX game show "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" ? the hit game pits adults against elementary school students and asks simple questions that often stump contestants. Foxworthy has been praised for his hosting abilities.
