Janet Jackson is touring this fall behind her most recent album, Discipline."
Jackson is one of the most successful female artists in the pop industry, and was named one of the top-ten selling artists of contemporary music by Billboard Magazine. In addition to music, she is also a film and television actress.
The pop star grew up in the Jackson household and was a childhood performer. She branched out on her own in 1982 with a self-titled debut, and found massive success with her breakthrough album, "Control," in 1986. Singles from the album include "What Have You Done for Me Lately," "When I Think of You" and "Nasty," as well as "Control" and "Lets Wait Awhile."
The next release from Jackson was "Rhythm Nation 1814," which includes the hits "Miss You Much," "Escapade" and "Black Cat." The album was extremely popular, being named the No. 1 selling album of the year. Her next album was "janet." which included the singles "Thats the Way Love Goes," "If," "Because of Love," "You Want This" and "Any Time, Any Place."
In the early 2000s Jackson hit a popularity boost, is possible, with hip-hop tracks such as "Boyfriend/Girlfriend" with Blackstreet, "What It Gonna Be?!" with Busta Rhymes and "Luv Me, Luv Me" with Shaggy.
Jackson focused on acting in 2000 in "Nutty Professor II: The Klumps," and she released her seventh album, "All for You," the following year. The album was extremely popular, the title track also sitting on the films soundtrack.
Jackson released "Damita Jo" in 2004 and "20 Y.O." in 2006 - she is currently supporting "Discipline," which included the hit "Feedback." The singer was also back on the big screen this spring with Tyler Perrys "Why Did I Get Married?"
