Between May and June, Jane's Addiction will be playing at 22 venues across the United States as they accompany Nine Inch Nails on their summer 2009 tour.
The band has also been confirmed to play the 2009 'T in the Park' festival, as well as Bonnaroo and the Sasquatch! Festival.
The original line up performed their first full set in 17 years in on Oct. 23, 2008, at the La Cita Bar in Los Angeles. They also performed at Echoplex in L.A. on Feb. 16, 2009.
Aside from their touring, they will also be releasing a box-set called "A Cabinet of Curiosities" on April 28, 2009. In addition, newly recorded versions of "Chip Away" and "Whores" have been released for free via the official tour website.
"Just to get some creative juice flowing, we went into the studio for about two weeks. We had the idea to re-record two tunes, just because they'd never been done officially in the studio," Perry Farrell said. "We had some fun writing some new things. A handful … are close to finished, but not quite done, but there's no rush to put anything out at this point."
Jane's Addiction started in L.A. in 1985 with Peter Farrell (vocals), Dave Navarro (guitar), Eric Avery (bass) and Stephen Perkins (drums). Through the next several years, the band members would grow increasingly averse to one another, partly due to the high amount of royalties paid to Farrell (>60%) while the rest of the band members got closer to 12 %.
On July 18, 1991, the band played the first ever Lollapalooza festival, which was supposed to be a farewell tour for Jane's Addiction. In addition it was a music festival with bands that are still around today, including Nine Inch Nails and The Butthole Surfers.
It would be seventeen years later before the band would ever rejoin, though Farrell, Navarro and Perkins were briefly reunited between 2001-2004.
