Jamie Foxx is currently on tour throughout the U.S. in support of his third studio album, Intuition, which he released in December 2008. Several guest artists appear on the album, including Lil Wayne, Kanye West, T-Pain, T.I. and The-Dream.
The album reached the top three on the U.S. Billboard 200 album charts, and stayed at No. 1 on the Top U.S. R&B/Hip Hop Albums Charts for six consecutive weeks. The album, which has sold an excess of 1,000,000 copies, was certified platinum.
Jamie Foxx, born Eric Marlon Bishop in 1967, is an actor, stand-up comedian and singer. He's won awards for his work in the film "Ray" about Ray Charles, including an Academy Award and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award for Best Actor. He has also won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a musical/comedy and has been nominated for several Grammy Awards.
Foxx was inspired to study classical music and composition at the United States International University, where he received a scholarship. He often cites this as his adoptive grandmother's influence on his life.
Though he studied music in college, he began piano lessons at age five. His first album came in 1994, he hosted the MTV Video Music Awards in 2001, and he performed on rapper Twista's song "Slow Jamz" in 2004. The song soon became a huge hit in the U.S. and U.K.
Kayne West also had a guest role in the song, and he and Foxx ended up working together for West's album Gold Digger, another instantly popular song.
Foxx released his second studio album, Unpredictable, in December 2005, which debuted at No. 2 and sold close to 600,000 copies in the first week alone.
