Hinder has been making moves in the post-grunge rock sound since the beginning of the decade, but the band found its stride with the 2005 self-titled debut, including the hit song ""Lips of an Angel."
Guitarist Joe ""Blower" Garvey, drummer Cody Hanson and frontman Austin Winkler began singing cover songs at college parties in 2001. Eventually, the band started opening for local acts, and eventually some lineup changes brought guitarist Mark King and bassist Mike Rodden, who formed a new trio with Garvey. The bands first EP, ""Far From Close" was released off of the independent record label Brickden Records and sold about 5,000 copies.
Tracks from the independent album caught the attention of several larger labels, and Hinder signed with Universal Records in 2005 and released ""Extreme Behavior." While the album was critically panned, the single ""Lips of an Angel" was a massive hit and was even covered by country artist Jack Ingram. The next singles from the album were ""How Long" and ""Better Than Me."
Te band is currently working on a new album. They are keeping fans entertained in the meanwhile, however, by striking a deal with Turner Network Television to remake Steppenwolfs legendary single ""Born to be Wild" to promote the 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series. The song will be featured in all six of the races plus the marketing campaign, plus a music video.
The rockers have done a lot of touring since releasing ""Extreme Behavior," including the ""Bad Boys of Rock Tour" with Buckcherry and Papa Roach. The band is continuing to tour, and a new album is on the way.
