Hanson's Shout It Out tour is in full swing throughout the fall in support of their eighth studio album. Shout It Out is Hanson's eighth studio album. It released in June 2010 and features the popular song "Thinking 'Bout Somethin'." The 25-city tour date kicked off on Sept. 20 with a two-night performance at San Francisco's Great American Music Hall and runs through Nov. 23 at the Guvernment in Toronto.
Along the way, they also have stops on Nov. 1 at the Dallas House of Blues; Nov. 10 at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta; Nov. 13 at Sonar in Baltimore; Nov. 14 at the State Theatre Falls Church in Falls Church, Va.; and Nov. 19 at the Nokia Theatre Times Square in New York.
From Sept. 20 through Oct. 1, A Rocket To The Moon will be opening for Hanson, as well as a different guest at each show. From Nov. 1-23, Jarrod Gorbel will be the special guest.
Say Hanson and the first word that comes to mind for many is "MMMBop!" But it's been nearly 15 years since the popular song came out, and Hanson has since released six studio albums, countless songs and several more chart-topping hits.
Hanson was formed between brothers Clarke Isaac (Nov. 17, 1980), Jordan Taylor (March 14, 1983) and Zachary Walker (Oct. 22, 1985), though they are known better as Isaac, Taylor and Zac.
As early as 1992, the brothers recorded several of their own songs as well as a cappella hits like "Splish Splash" and "Rockin' Robin." Their first performance was at Tulsa'a Mayfest Arts festival in 1992.
Though all three brothers are trained on the piano, they eventually branched out toward the instruments that interested them the most, which led Isaac to the guitar, Taylor to the keyboard and Zac to the drums. After years of practice, they released their first album, Boomerang, in 1995 followed by the album that helped propel them to the public eye: MMMBop in 1996.
They were discovered at Austin's South By Southwest music festival, where they were signed by manager Chris Sabec and picked up by Mercury. In 1996, the brothers released their first major label album, Middle of Nowhere, which featured the popular hit "MMMBop" from their second studio album.
The album was an overnight success, selling more than 10 million copies worldwide. It also resulted in Hanson's first worldwide tour, called the Albertane Tour, which took them to France, Germany, England, Canada and across the U.S.
In 1998, Hanson also received three Grammy Award nominations: Best New Artist, Record of the Year (for Middle of Nowhere) and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal (for "MMMBop").
Following the success of their first tour, the group released their first live album, called Live From Albertane, a documentary, The Road to Albertane and their only Christmas album to date, Snowed In (1997).
In 2000, Hanson released their follow-up to the popular Middle of Nowhere. Their fifth album, This Time Around, did not reach the level of success that its predecessor did, but was still noteworthy for its change in style. It drifted away from the band's previous bubblegum pop style and focused more on ballads ("A Song to Sing" and "Sure About It") as well as classic rock.
Around this time, their label merged with Island Def Jam and because the promotional funding sales were low, Hanson's tour budget was cut significantly. After three years with Island Def Jam, Hanson decided to leave and began their own label, 3CG Records under management of 10th Street Entertainment, which has worked with artists like Blondie and Meat Loaf.
Underneath, which debuted in 2004, was Hanson's first release under their new label. Ironically, it ranked higher on the Billboard charts than the previous album, jumping to No. 1 on the Independent Albums list and No. 25 on the Billboard 200.
From 2004 to 2010, Hanson has remained busy with the release of two albums The Walk (2007) and Shout It Out (2010), five tours and three films.
