With a Broadway musical titled "American Idiot" now running in New York, and a two-leg tour in support of their Gold Certified album "21st Century Breakdown" kicking off in May, Green Day is understandably busy. The second leg of the tour starts on August 3 when Green Day teams up with AFI for a 17-city U.S. tour produced by LiveNation.
The first leg of the tour, spanning from May 29 to July 4, will take place overseas, before coming back to the states for a month-long break. Joan Jett is the special guest on their European dates.
The first tour in support of "21st Century Breakdown" began in July 2009 and continued through September 2 to the delight of fans everywhere. One of the most noteworthy events this time around: Green Day, which consists of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool, will perform at this year's Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 7.
Green Day treated fans attending the "American Idiot" premiere last week in NYC with a surprise mini concert, performing the play's namesake single as well as "Basket Case." It may have been the first time Broadway has ever seen a mosh pit!
