Good Charlotte is challenging all of their fans to tell the truth by demanding to know: who will be coming to the Bamboozle Road Show? The band will play the first show on May 21 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Although the details are a bit sketchy, what they have said for certain is the other bands they will be playing with will vary by city. Tour dates are May 21st through June 27th. On May 22 they will be in Charlotte, NC, and from there on to Atlanta, Georgia, and Florida before they go back to the West and do a show in Texas on May 28th.
Some of the bands that will play with them are: Boys Like Girls, All Time Low, Cartel, LMFAO, Hellogoodbye, Third Eye Blind, Simple Plan and many more. Now, what about that album they started to record last year? GC can't be pinned down to a solid answer. When asked, they act like they are the last to know when it's going to be released. "Cardiology" will be their 5th studio album. They are very good about keeping their fans updated on their website and through Twitter; everyday they gives fans news about the progress.
What the album will actually sound like is still mysterious. Joel Madden said that it would sound a lot like Blink 182 and added, "There's nothing dance-y on the record, though, at all, which is different from our last one…" The title, "Cardiology," is named as such because the lyrical content is "all connected to the heart," says Madden. What is clear is that they have so much good material for this album that it promises to be another legendary piece of work for this band.
Good Charlotte started back in 1995 in Waldorf, Maryland. Their first self titled CD in 2000 got them noticed, but their second album, "The Young and the Hopeless" in 2002 went triple platinum after three million copies sold. This was the moment of their careers that ushered them into mainstream popularity with appearances on Saturday Night Live, The Today Show and MTV.
"Chronicles of Life and Death" in 2004 received mixed reviews and was an obvious departure from the style their fans were expecting. "I Just Wanna Live" made the charts and other singles off this effort were well received in the UK.
With the released of their fourth album, "Good Morning Revival" they became international stars. The band made international TV appearances and even had their lead singer, Benji Madden, co-host the 2007 Australian MTV Video Music Awards with Fergie. They won the "Viewers Choice Australia" award for the "Keep Your Hands Off My Girl" video that year.
Shortly thereafter, they went on the road with Justin Timberlake in support of his "Future Sex/ Love Show" tour as the opening act. The August 16th show in Madison Square Garden was broadcast on HBO.
Good Charlotte band members include: Joel and Benji Madden, Billy Martin, Paul Thomas and Dean Butterworth. Some of the causes the band aligns itself with are the YouthAIDS Aldo dog-tag campaign. The twins, Joel and Benji, pose side by side, eyes shut on the 'See No Evil?' dog-tag packaging to make a statement about AIDS. They have also been active with PETA as animal rights activists, and some of the members are vegetarians.
