News and Information
While rock acts of the ?70s were plentiful, few groups had the chops to translate their styles to the ?80s and continue to thrive ? of the few that have Foreigner stands above the rest. The innovative sound fusing rock, pop and R&B propelled the band to sell more than 50 million albums across the globe and 30 million in the U.S.

The band began with Brit rocker Mick Jones, Ian McDonald, Lou Gramm, Dennis Elliott, Al Greenwood and Ed Gagliardi as a sextet. They scored fame with a self-titled debut in 1977, which sold more than four million copies in the United States and sat on the Top 20 for over a year, going platinum five times. Hits such as "Feels Like the First Time," "Long Long Way from Home" and "Cold as Ice" prompted the major success. The next two collections included the hits "Hot Blooded," "Double Vision," "Dirty White Boy" and "Head Games." After the first three albums, the band became an arena staple, traveling across the country to spread their new fusion of sounds.

Although it?s hard to believe, the band became even more popular ? in 1980, "4" was released, including the hits "Jukebox Hero," "Waiting for a Girl Like You" and "Urgent." The next album, "Agent Provocateur," brought them the first number one hit on the U.S. Hot 100 chart ? "I Want to Know What Love Is." The single was particularly important because it was released in 1984, when many of the band?s peers fell out of favor with fans. Foreigner found a way to keep the music fresh and interesting to fans. Other hits from that era include "Say You Will" and "I Don?t Want to Live Without You."

Apparently due to ego conflicts, the group disbanded in 1987 ? in 1992 they regrouped, although not very successfully. While the band hasn?t released much successful new material since the ?80s, it has thrived with performances on the road. This year, the band headed out with Def Leppard and Styx, in a truly nostalgic tour for all rock poppers from the era. "Extended Versions" was released ? it includes the new Foreigner lineup playing classic hits live, but very "clean sounding."

These days, the band is regularly touring, bringing back the spirit that they owned in the ?70s and ?80s to all of the fans that so eagerly want to hear them.
