Fleet Foxes 2011 Tour News and Bio This May, Fleet Foxes is kicking off their month-long U.S. tour in support of their second studio album, "Helplessness Blues." "Helplessness Blues," the band's second album, is set to drop on May 3. It's the follow-up to their 2008 self-titled debut.

The 16-city tour kicks off on May 1 at the Crystal Ballroom in Portland and runs through May 21 at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, Penn. Along the way, the band also has gigs at the Moore Theatre in Seattle on May 2-3; the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. on May 15; the United Palace Theatre in New York on May 18-19 and more!

Fleet Foxes was founded by Robin Pecknod and Skyler Skjelset, who were friends throughout high school. The duo bonded over their taste in music and began jamming together under the band name Pineapple, but later changed it to Fleet Foxes after clashing with another band.

The Seattle natives began playing around their hometown around 2005 and caught the eye of Warner Music in 2008. By that time, the band had already recorded their first studio album and was gaining a following via word-of-mouth and MySpace.

They first released the E.P., "Sun Giant," in April 2008, then followed that up with their debut, self-titled studio album in June. Following the release of the album, the band kicked off a North American and European tour, which they extended through the fall of 2009.

Though it was slow to being received in the U.S., by the end of 2008, the album had been named Billboard's Critic's Choice Album of the Year.

Though the group began with only two members, that number has now grown to six, including bass guitarist Christian Wargo, keyboardist Casey Wescott, drummer Josh Tillman and multi-instrumentalist Morgan Henderson.
