Five For Fighting is singer-songwriter John Ondrasik, best known for his hit, "Superman (It's Not Easy)" that became the haunting inspirational theme song after the 911 attacks. He has begun his multi-city tour for his 2009 release, "Slice". Starting in March he will tour the east coast with shows in Vermont (3/1), Boston (3/3), New York (3/4 & 3/7), Philadelphia, PA. (3/8) and Washington, D.C., at the Lisner Auditorium on March 9th. The 27-city headline tour will go through the US until early April.

John Ondrasik has been writing his well received songs for the last decade. He aims to invoke a spirit of human kindness and strives to make an emotional connection with his fans. His music is more of a vehicle for social and humanitarian causes because he continues to involve himself on more levels than just writing, singing and performing.

The man is passionate about being of service to others. He has shown ongoing support of the American Troops; in 2007 he coordinated the release of a free, 13-song CD for US military members entitled, "CD for the Troops." In 2008 he released the second version of this project that enabled troops to hear the donated songs from various artists for free. He distributed more 200,000 CD's to troops around the globe.

In addition, Ondrasik performed as part of the USO/Armed Forces Entertainment tour of Guantanamo Bay, doing two tours back in 2007. Of the war effort, Ondrasik says, "I am struck by the sacrifices the troops and their families made for our way of life and I feel it is important to show my support.

He sees his music as a healing force, which in this day and age is refreshing and unusual. After his "Not Easy" hit in 2001, he joined with many superstar musicians to raise money for firefighters, police officers and paramedics in "The Concert For New York".

He has also been involved in the musical movement of spreading awareness about current slavery and human trafficking be performing his song, "World" for the rockumentary, "Call+Response". And his charity-driven website, whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com, has collected over three hundred thousand views from viewers logging on and donating money when they access the video clips on the site.

The Los Angeles-born songwriter was brought up in a musical family that encouraged him to learn the piano and how to sing opera. He learned to play the guitar as a teenager and began to write songs. After graduating from UCLA with a degree in applied science and mathematics, he adopted the name, 'Five For Fighting', which he took from ice hockey. Five for fighting refers to the call for a player to take a five-minuet penalty if they start a fight during the game.

His first album to make it into the Top 10, debuting at number 8 on the Billboard charts, "Two Lights" was released in August 2006. In January of 2007, Ondrasik was asked to fill in for radio host Casey Kasem on the American Top 20 radio programs. It was on this program that he counted down his own hit AT20 hit, "World" and also on AT20 "The Riddle".
Ondrasik writes and co-writes CD's for other artists (The Backstreet Boys and Josh Groban, to name a few). He also co-writes movie soundtracks, (August Rush, We Were Soldiers, Chicken Little and others).

Of his current release, Ondrasik's operatic voice is featured on the title track. He says this song "comes from a daydream that we've all had at some point in our lives-that moment when we long for a simpler time when life seemed better and the songs were bigger. It's a sly play on one of those grand songs, Don McLean's American Pie." He wants to heal the world through his activism and heartfelt desire to bring hope and wellbeing to all. This is a show that must be seen!
