Fishbone fans can celebrate- 2010 marks the 25th anniversary of this beloved alternative ska-punk, reggae rock bunch of wild musicians. They released their first full-length concert video earlier this year. "Live in Boudreaux" is specially bundled with audio download and several limited offer goodies for the fans. All is available off their website, but the better news is that Fishbone has started what promises to be a lengthy, multi-city tour with fellow 80's ska rockers The English Beat that is aimed at reaching all those who love them.

The Los Angeles-based band began in Venice Beach, CA. They are booked to play a series of shows in the west and the south before coming out to the east coast. They will play the 9:30 Club on February 22, and they will play the Ramshead Live on February 24th before heading on to the mid-west and Canada.

At the moment Fishbone is comprised of the following members: Angelo Moore, John Norwood Fisher, John Steward, Rocky George, Dre Gipson and John McKnight.

The band started in 1979 with their attention-getting shows at Madame Wong's in Los Angeles. They quickly gained favor with their never-been-done before brand of hybrid funk and reggae fusion. Their energetic presence with audiences and their enthusiasm for the sound they were coining became a major influence on their contemporaries. 'Alternative Rock' was just beginning to take shape in the music world. Fishbone's unique fusion of different styles made them stand out, pairing them in concerts with other bands was not easy. They did not fit entirely into the ska-punk scene, nor did they fit into the Heavy Metal category, even though their sound had elements of both hard rock and Jamaican beats.

Through the years the band has had many incarnations, many members and a more than a few record labels. They did well in the underground music scene, but where almost unheard of in the mainstream. Many of their albums received critical acclaim, but had poor sales. "Fishbone and the Familyhood Nextperience Present: The Psychotic Friends Nuttwerx" recorded in 2000, features special guests Gwen Stefani, Rick James, Bad Brains, Donny Osmond and many others.

In 2002 they released "Live at the Temple Bar and More" on their own label, which contained all the new original material. "Live in Amsterdam" followed.

In 2003, the founding members Kibby and Spacy T. left the band. Although they helped with various recording projects, in 2005, Moore and Fisher, along with Rocky George (Suicidal Tendencies) and Tori Ruffin (The Time) and Dre Gipson restarted Fishbone.

Stay tuned for many more creative projects from Fishbone; in addition to their renewed vows, they have started filming a documentary, "Everyday Sunshine" that is soon to be released.
