Eddie Vedder News and Information

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder is hitting the road again after his first-ever solo jaunt last year. Kicking this off June 8th in Albany, NY, he will hit about 8 cities in the U.S. before early July with Liam Finn in the opening spot.
Vedder was raised in the suburbs of Chicago - after earning his GED in the early 1980's, he moved to San Diego, Calif., to try his hand in the music business. He joined a number of bands, although none worked out. In 1990, Vedder formed Pearl Jam, and they released their debut album, "10," which propelled them - and the grunge sound - into the main stream.
Their sophomore album, "Vs," was equally popular, but Vedder seemed to be uninterested with the pressure of success - the group refused to film music videos, and even boycotted Ticketmaster, which prevented them from touring in the U.S. Regardless of their stance on fame, the group has released eight studio albums and has amassed a tremendous following.
Vedder began his foray into solo art with a number of soundtracks and compilations, including "Dead Man Walking, "I Am Sam" and "Body of War." Per actor/director Sean Penn's request, Vedder wrote and performed the entire "Into the Wild" soundtrack, and won a Golden Globe for his work in 2008.
In addition to his musical releases, Vedder has acted in films such as "Singles" in 1992, "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story," in 2007 and "Slacker Uprising" in 2008.
Last year, Vedder and Pearl Jam re-released their debut album "Ten," and they are back at work on a studio album.
