Comedian Denis Leary is hitting the road this summer for his "Rescue Me Comedy Tour 2." Though the sixth season of the television show "Rescue Me" doesn't premiere on FX until late June 2010, Leary is giving fans a dose of the fun ahead of time. The 11-city tour kicks off in Atlantic City, N.J., on May 22 and runs through June 27 in New York City.

Joined by fellow comedians and cast mates Lenny Clarke and Adam Ferrara, as well as The Enablers featuring the Rehab Horns, Leary will travel to New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Connecticut, California, Nevada, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and New York for the tour.

During the summer of 2009 Leary toured for the first time in 12 years, which spurred him to hit the road again this summer.

"We had such an amazing time on the rescue me comedy tour last summer- and most of the restraining orders and obscenity charges have either lapsed or didn't hold up in court - so we are headed back out on the open road to make America laugh," Leary said on his website.

Denis Leary first dabbled in comedy back in the 1980s when he hosted a show at an underground club in Boston. From there, he starred on a local comedy series and eventually branched out to MTV.

After appearing in MTV skits on the game show "Remote Control" and ranting about R.E.M., Leary became a staple of the channel and eventually released two stand up comedy records: "No Cure for Cancer" (1993) and "Lock n' Load" (1997). In addition to his stand-up comedy venture, Leary is also an experienced actor with more than 40 movies under his belt, including "Wag the Dog," "The Thomas Crown Affair," and "Operation Dumbo Drop."

As of late, Leary is most known for his lead role on the popular FX series "Rescue Me," though he also held the lead role in "The Job." In "Rescue Me," Leary plays an alcoholic New York City firefighter who deals with his dysfunctional family.

Leary has an impressive amount of nominations for his work, most notably "Rescue Me," and has been awarded the Satellite Awards for Best Ense,ble for "Rescue Me" in 2005; the Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favorite Supporting Actor in "The Thomas Crown Affair" in 2000; the CableACE Award for Best Directing for "National Lampoon's Favorite Deadly Sins" in 1996; and the Edinburgh International Arts Festival Critic's Award and BBC Festival Recommendation Award for "No Cure for Cancer" in 1992.
