Demitri Martin, host of the new Comedy Central show "Important Things with Demetri Martin," is hitting the road to bring fans a live version of his entertaining show.
Martin, best known for his prop comedy and contributing to The Daily Show, is a New York Comedian who pursued a career comedy despite objections from his entire family. He attended Yale University and New York University School of Law, but dropped out one year before earning his law degree.
Martin found his first taste of fame when he appeared on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend" in 2001, and in 2003 he was awarded the Perrier Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival for his show 'If I…," which was eventually turned into a British TV special.
In 2003 and 2004, Martin wrote for Late Night with Conan O'Brien and in 2004 created his own Comedy Central Presents stand-up special. He split the performance into three parts: a traditional standup routine followed by humorous drawings as props and finally he played the guitar and performed a form of a play.
Since 2005, Martin has become a contributor on The Daily Show as the "Senior Youth Correspondent" on which he hosts a segment called "Trendspotting," which pokes fun at common trends. Eventually, that segment turned into "Professional Important News with Demetri Martin," which has spawned a spin-off, "Important Things with Demetri Martin." The show debuted on February 11, 2009.
