Currently, Daughtry has been on tour since early summer, and the band doesn't appear to be giving up anytime soon. In fact, their last show isn't until Dec. 20 in Evansville, Indiana, at the Roberts Stadium.
It's hard to believe that Daughtry had their big break just three years ago with their self-titled album, and even more amazing is that their second album "Leave This Town" was released earlier this year, making American Idol history by becoming the first winner to have two consecutive No. 1 albums.
When Chris Daughtry didn't make it to the Top 3 in the American Idol singing competition, he probably never believed he would outsell the finalists that beat him out. As luck (and a lot of talent) would have it, he did that and more - his debut album with his band, Daughtry, was the fastest-selling rock album in Soundscan history.
Daughtry was featured on the fifth season of the wildly popular reality competition and TV show, and was the fourth-place finisher. His departure was a shock, and he was soon offered the frontman position for rock band Fuel, which he turned down to create his own band. Daughtrys label, RCA Records, put the band together -Jeremy Brady and Josh Steely on guitar, Josh Paul on Bass and Joey Barnes on drums - Brady is no longer with the band. The band released its self-titled debut on November 21, 2006. The first single, "Its Not Over" was hugely successful, hitting the Billboard Hot 100 Chart at No. 4. The second single, "Home" has also done very well commercially, and was the send-off song for all American Idol artists kicked off the show in Season 6. "What I Want" is the third single, which features Slash of Guns N Roses fame on lead guitar.
American Idol winner Taylor Hicks and runner-up Katharine McPhee haven't sold anywhere near the numbers that Daughtry has seen since the formation of the band - Daughtry is arguably the most popular former Idol since Kelly Clarkson.
While the band clearly is just beginning its journey in the rock world, it has made quite a name for itself in the short time on the block, both as a supporting band for names like Nickelback, and as a headliner.
