Crue Fest News and Information
Posted 3/26/2009
In 2008 Motley Crue paid homage to the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, by embarking on their own Crue Fest during the summer months.

The rockers head out with Papa Roach, Buckcherry, Trapt and Sixx:A.M. on what was dubbed the "Loudest Tour on Earth."

Nikki Sixx first formulated the idea for the tour, because he wanted to go on tour with both of the outfits with which he was involved - Motley Crue and Sixx:A.M.. The rest of the tour fell into place, bringing together bands that "embody the spirit of rock and roll in the same vein as the Ozzfest."

Motley Crue hosted a press conference in April of 2008 to officially announce the tour, and it became one of the most talked-about tours of the summer.

Crue has been on the top of the metal game for some time now, having sold over 72 million copies world wide and influencing many younger artists. Earlier this year, they finished a tour behind their ninth studio album "Saints of Los Angeles," released in June of 2008. A film interpretation of the band's autobiography, "The Dirt," is expected out in 2009.

Papa Roach was influenced by the likes of Motley Crue, and have found massive success. They have released four successful albums that have included hit tracks such as "Take Me" and "Scars."

Buckcherry is an old rock name with a new and improved face - after breaking up in 2002, they recollected in 2006 and found hits with "Crazy Bitch" and "Sorry" off of their album "15."

"Trapt" is a newer collective that came onto the scene with their first album in 2003 that handed them the rock hit "Head Strong." They have since released three studio albums and one live track, most recently "Only Through the Pain" in 2008.

Sixx:A.M. is Sixx's side project, formed in 2007. The band, consisting of Sixx, DL Ashba and James Michael, released "The Heroin Diaries" soundtrack in 2007, which was based on Sixx's novel "The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star." Crue Fest was the first big tour for the band.
