Crowded House is back this summer with the release of a new album, "Intriguer," and an extensive tour. "Intriguer" is the band's sixth studio album, and second since their 2007 reunion album, "Time on Earth," to feature all four current band members: Neil Finn, Paul Hester, Nick Seymour and Matt Sherrod.
Crowded House's 30-city North American tour kicks off on July 12 at Toronto's Massey Hall and ends on Sept. 5 at Chicago's House of Blues. Some highlights of the tour include performances at the Fillmore Miami Beach on July 29, The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, Calif., on Aug. 24, and the Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Seattle on Aug. 28.
Crowded House was formed in 1985 in Melbourne, Australia, with original members Neil Finn, Paul Hester, Nick Seymour and Craig Hooper. For the next 11 years, the band remained active in the New Zealand & Australia music scenes, gaining popularity with their debut self titled album in 1986. "Something So Strong" and "Don't Dream It's Over" are just two of the band's most popular songs from their first album, and both songs achieved Top Ten status.
The band's second album, "Temple of Low Men," received little recognition, though the band rebounded in 1991 with their third album, "Woodface." Songs Chocolate Cake, Weather With You, Fall at Your Feet, It's Only Natural and Four Seasons in One Day all from "Woodface" achieved popularity and boosted the band back into the spotlight.
Their fourth album, "Together Alone" (1993), would be their last for 14 years, as the band ceased recording after the departure of Paul Hester in 1994, citing a desire to spend more time with his family. In 1996, the band officially broke up.
Following the death of Paul Hester in 2005, Finn, Seymour and Hart reconnected and began playing music together. This ultimately led to their first album following the break-up, "Time On Earth."
Following the success of their reunion album, Crowded House re-entered the studio in 2009 to record another album. The result was "Intriguer," performed by Finn, Seymour, Hart and Sherrod, as well as guest musicians Don McGlashan, Jon Brion, Lisa Germano, James Milne as well as Finn's wife, Sharon, and son, Liam.
