Creed News and Information

Creed has regrouped and is kicking off their massive summer tour this August, starting things on August 6th in Burgettstown, PA, and moving westward and through the South to finish up October 14th in Nashville, Tenn.

Creed began as a Christian Rock Band and eventually moved into the mainline, accumulating a legion of fans and critical success.

The rockers, Scott Stapp, Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall, came together in 1994 out of Florida State University. They independently released their debut album "My Own Prison" in 1997, only in Florida radio stations. The album wound up being a surprise success, including the hits "My Own Prison," "Torn," "What's This Life For" and "One." It reached No. 40 on the Billboard Top 200, and sold 35 million records worldwide.

The group's second album, "Human Clay," was released in 1999 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, based on their lead-off single "Higher," which was followed by the even more successful "With Arms Wide Open." The group took off on their "Human Clay" tour, and Stapp publically beeded with Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit.

In the fall of 2001, the band released "My Sacrifice" off of "Weathered," which was used in a promotional tribute for World Wrestling Entertainment. In 2002, they released the single "One Last Breath," which was one of the most successful singles of the summer.

Stapp was in a car accident in April of 2002 that prevented him from touring with the group to support the album, though he did appear in the last few shows. It seemed to be evident that the group was on its last legs, and in June of 2004 the group officially announced their break up. Stapp started working on a solo effort and the other band members created a new band, Alter Bridge, with Myles Kennedy.

In 2009, there were rumors that a creed reunion could occur. On April 27th, the band's website announced a tour for a reunion and a new album, "Full Circle," which will be released right after the tour.
