Cobra Starship has been busy this year. The New York City headliners of 2008's "Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour" are flaunting their handsome selves again along with fellow rockers 3OH!3 in the "Too Fast for Love Tour" scheduled to begin on April 28th in Milwaukee, Wisc. The multi-city tour takes them all over the US with a show at Washington, DC's 9:30 Clue on May 5th. As always with these debonair lads, the tickets are selling out fast as the dates get closer. The band has already been touring this year in promotion of "Hot Mess", their 2009 release.

The album that came from their self imposed retreat in a cabin up in Pennsylvania last year has been fairing well for them. They broadcasted live on 'Stickam' over the internet, and that stop in the UK at the end of last year's tour paid off. Their fan base in Europe is growing, which is why they have just completed the "Hot Mess Across The EU-Niverse" tour in February of this year.

Cobra Starship began in 2005 in New York, New York, with former Midtown bassist and lead vocalist, Gabe Saporta. The band includes Ryland Blackinton (guitarist), Alex Suarez (bassist), Nate Navarro (drummer) and Victoria Asher (keytarist), all of whom provide backup vocals for Saporta.

Saporta claims that the inspiration for the band came when a cobra bit him during a vision quest in the desert. Well, at least he was in the desert contemplating his existence when the cobra bit him in the neck. He should be dead, but he's not. As he clutched his neck in pain he started to hallucinate. He thought the snake was giving him life lessons from a dance floor, which became the inception for the electro-dance-rock-synthpop music the band produces.

"While the City Sleeps, We Rule the Street" was their first album released in 2006. The single, "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)" from the album was later used during the closing credits for the film, "Snakes on a Plane" in that same year. Their second album, "Viva La Cobra!" was released in October 2007 followed by the "Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking" worldwide promotional tour in 2008, which included several dates on the Van's Warped Tour. Their promotional efforts resulted in the album art from 'Viva' being used to promote the fourth generation Apple iPod nano in purple.

Katy Perry's enormous hit in 2008, "I Kissed a Girl" became the inspiration for Starship to make their own version of the song, which they called, "I Kissed a Boy" in the summer of 2008. They also started the "Believers Never Die" tour that year and opened for Fall Out Boy.

Since then, the 2009 release of "Hot Mess," and it's subsequent tour, has been their main focus. "Hot Mess" was written with the help of songwriter and current American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi and Kevin Rudolf (KarateE! Mouse, S*A*M, Sluggo), as well as songwriters Benny Blanco and Patrick Stump. Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl) is featured in the song, "Good Girls Go Bad" which is the album's first single.
