Carlos Mencia is touring extensively through December. The funnyman is hitting the road to drum up support for his upcoming release, "Performance Enhanced."

Mencia is currently hosting Mind of Mencia, and has been featured in a number of films over the past year, including "Farce of the Penguins" and "The Heartbreak Kid." He was also featured on MADtv.

The self-proclaimed "Equal Opportunity Offender" is currently taping the next season of Mind of Mencia, and was just in Iraq performing for the troops.

Carlos Mencia Background Information

Carlos Mencia is enjoying fame that few comedians dream of - his own show on Comedy Central! However, he is still touring regularly, bringing a more personal slant on his comedy than what fans see on TV.

Mencia, born Ned Arnel Mencia, is the seventeenth of eighteen children. Due to a domestic dispute, he was known as "Ned Holness" until he was 18. He grew up in Los Angeles, and was able to stay out of gangs - he even majored in electrical engineering at California State University. After a successful open mic night performance at The Laugh Factory, he eventually scored the title "International Comedy Grand Champion."

Mencia was chosen to host the Latino comedy "Loco Slam" on HBO in 1994, and then "Funny is Funny!" on Galavision in 1998. He also found success as one member of "The Three Amigos" in 2001 with Freddy Soto and Pablo Francisco. Mencias real breakthrough came with a performance on Comedy Central Presents in 2002. At the end of 2004, after a number of guest performances on a number of comedies, he received a show on "The Comedy Channel," in the same vein as the extremely popular Chappelles Show. The show is the most successful behind South Park.

Mencia is known to be as raunchy as most other comedians are - he often focuses on race, sexual orientation, class, religion and politics. He has a way of intentionally violating rules of political correctness, including a lot of raunchy comments, including his trademark "DEE-dee-dee," used to refer to those that werent born mentally retarded, but are now.
