Boston is currently traveling the country, in many instances with fellow rockers Styx, bringing their brand of classic rock to fans everywhere in support of their most recent studio release, "Corporate America."
The outfit had one of the fastest-selling debuts in the history of rock and roll, changing the mood in the music industry from strictly disco to a new sound. frontman Tom Scholz has been leading the band since its inception in the mid-1970s and they have developed a massive loyal following.
Boston came together while Scholz was recording demos and playing all of the instruments - over time, he brought in singer Brad Delp and Jim Masdea on drums. When they were signed to Epic Records, there were some lineup changes and a bassist, Fran Sheehan and guitarist Barry Goudreau were hired.
The band released their debut album in 1976, which sold a record-breaking 17 million copies. The album boasted the top hits "More Than a Feeling," "Long Time" and "Peace of Mind." They toured with Black Sabbath and Moxy the following summer and then set out on a massive world tour to support the album, solidifying their place on top of the rock game.
Their following album, "Dont Look Back," was also extremely popular - it included hits "A Man Ill Never Be" and "Feelin Satisfied" and was accompanied by yet another huge tour.
The late 1970s and early 1980s brought contract woes for the group, but they were back at it with a popular album, "Third Stage." The collection included the hits "Amanda," "Were Ready" and "Cantcha Say." The band released two more studio albums and a greatest hits effort - most recently, "Corporate America" hit shelves in 2002.
Most recently, Boston was in the news for politics - Some of the members supported Republican presidential nominee Mike Huckabee, which ruffled the feathers of Scholz, an Obama supporter. They overcame their differences, though, and have been touring since early June and expected to be on the road through the end of August.
