Blink 182

News and Information
At the 2009 Grammys, Blink 182 appeared onstage together for the first time since December 2004 to announce the reformation of their pop-punk band, making millions of fans throughout the world very happy.

The band, which broke up in 2005 to pursue other options, became the poster boys for a new pop-friendly punk sound with catch hooks and witty lyrics after their formation in 1992.

Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Scott Raynor originally formed the band, with Travis Barker replacing Raynor on drums in 1998. The trio signed with Cargo Music and released "Cheshire Cat" and "Buddha" in 1994. They put out "Dude Ranch" in 1996 and found modest fame with the single "Damnit."

The 1999 release "Enema of the State" included a number of hits, including "What's My Age Again," "All the Small Things," and "Adam's Song." They then put out "The Urethra Chronicles," a DVD that features behind-the-scenes information, and "The Mark, Tom and Travis Show (The Enema Strikes Back!)," both in 2000.

"Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" was another hit album for them in 2001, and in 2003 they released their eponymous fifth studio album, which featured a more mature sound, including the hits "Feeling This," "I Miss You," "Down," and "Always." The group then embarked on the "DollaBill" tour, which charged $1 per person. The trio also toured with No Doubt.

In 2004, DeLonge quit the band, which began an indefinite hiatus. Barker went on to star in an MTV reality show "Meet the Barkers," and continued to perform with Hoppus in the band "+44." DeLonge formed the band "Angels &Airwaves," both of which found modest success.

The band has announced on their website that they are back together and picking up where they left up. A new album is expected in 2009, and a tour is planned for the summer.

Blink 182 Background Information

The boys of Blink-182 are made up of San Diego natives Tom DeLonge (guitar/vocals), Mark Hoppus (bass/vocals) and Travis Barker (drums.) Blink-182's original line-up had Scott Raynor on drums. The band started out as a mariachi band playing at weddings and birthdays and called themselves El Cuatro and the Cajones. That was short lived. Blink-182 lost the ponchos, plugged in their amps and have been rockin' ever since.

Blink-182 released their first full album, Cheshire Cat in 1995 on Grilled Cheese Music. In '96 MCA Records snagged Blink-182 and they released their second album Dude Ranch in '97. By the end of 1998 Blink-182 had been tagged as one of the most popular pop-punk bands of the year.

Dude Ranch was a big success, which had a lot to do with the popular single Dammit (Growing Up.) Teens caught the Blink bug when Enema Of The State hit record shelves in 1999 and their popularity exploded.

It was a sad day for girls everywhere when, in May 2001, Blink-182 hottie Tom DeLonge got hitched to his long-time sweetheart Jennifer Jenkins. The following month the band released Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. The first single The Rock Show was a big hit.
