Born in Oklahoma in 1976, Blake Shelton began singing when he was just 12 years old. At 17, he moved to Nashville to pursue his singing career and, after several years of trials, signed to Giant Record in 1998.
His first single under Giant Records was "Austin," which jumped to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart where it remained for five weeks. During this time, Giant Records dissolved and Blake Shelton was transferred to Warner Bros. Records. His self-titled 2001 album followed with the popular songs "Ol' Red" and "All Over Me."
Over the next seven years, Blake Shelton went on to release four more albums, during which time his popularity continued growing. Blake Shelton's discography includes The Dreamer (2003), Blake Shelton's Barn & Grill (2004), Pure BS (2005) and Startin' Fires (2008).
In 2010, Blake Shelton took a new approach to recording and released two EP six-packs: Hillbilly Bone and All About Tonight. The EPs were just what Blake Shelton needed to seal the deal at the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. After years of nominations, Blake Shelton won the Academy of Country Music Vocal Event of the Year Award, the CMT Music Award fir Collaborative Video of the Year, and the Country Music Association Vocal Event of the Year all for Hillbilly Bone. In addition, Blake Shelton took home his first ever Country Music Association Award for Male Vocalist of the Year, something he won again in 2011.
Shelton's sixth studio album, Red River Blue, debuted in 2011. The album's title track features a duet with Blake Shelton's wife, Miranda Lambert. The duo were married in May 2011.
