Throughout November, Black Label Society is touring in support of their eighth studio album, Order of the Black. Upcoming tour dates include Nov. 14 at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver; Nov. 19 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles; and Nov.2 1 at the House of Blues in Las Vegas.
On Nov. 20, Black Label Society is teaming up with Clutch and Children of Bodom for the Black Label Bezerkus at the Warfield in San Francisco.
Order of the Black was released in August 2010 and features the popular songs "Parade of the Dead" and "Crazy Horse."
Following several successful years playing with Ozzy Osbourne, Zakk Wylde decided that it was time to branch out on his own and create a new band. The result was Pride & Glory. However, the band released only one self-titled album in 1994 before disbanding, and Wylde found himself on his own again.
For two years, Wylde kicked around ideas of what his place was in the music business, which resulted in 1996's Book of Shadows, an acoustic solo album. In 1998, Wylde teamed up with drummer Phil Ondich and recorded what eventually became Black Label Society's debut album, Sonic Brew. From there they decided to continue to record together and began recruiting new members. Ironically, Wylde had previously worked with the two members that they recruited: Nick Catanese (who contributed to the Book of Shadows tour) and John DeServio (who played in Pride & Glory).
The newly formed band signed with Spitfire Records in late 1998 and released Sonic Brew months later. Over the band's next two albums, Stronger Than Death (2000) and 1919 Eternal (2002), the band went through several changes, including losing DeServio and Ondich.
Since then the band has released five more albums: The Blessed Hellride (2003), Hangover Music Vol. VI (2004), Mafia (2005), Shot to Hell (2006) and Order of the Black (2010). They have also had several lineup changes over the years, but the current members are Wylde, DeServio, Catanese and Will Hunt.
