Bill Maher is traveling with his comedy routine this summer, beginning late in May and continuing through the end of August.
Maher has gained fame for his political satire, attacking both the right and left wings, leaving nothing sacred. He is known to comment on politics, religion, Hollywood and the media with unrelenting harshness, leading him to be named the 38th best stand-up comedians of all time, according to Comedy Central.
Maher grew up in New York City and attended Cornell University to earn a degree in English and History. Just after graduation he became the host of the "Catch a Rising Star” competition in New York City.
Over the years he has developed as stand-up comedian, scoring a number of HBO comedy specials such as "Bill Maher: Golden Goose Special” and "Bill Maher: The Victory Begins at Home.” He has also stretched his breadth as an actor - he has been featured in films such as "EDtv, "Tomcats” and "Religulous,”
Mahers skills are best known, however, as a television talk show host. He hosted "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher” from 1994 through 2002, and currently hosts "Real Time with Bill Maher” on HBO.
Maher will spend the end of May on the East Coast before heading West for July and August.
