Aziz Ansari is taking a break from the highly popular "Parks and Recreation" series on NBC to bring his own brand of comedy to the masses! Aziz's Dangerously Delicious Tour kicked off on Sept. 15 at the Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, N.J., and is scheduled to run through Nov. 20 at the Las Angeles Orpheum Theatre.
The 13-city tour also includes stops at Washington, D.C's Warner Theatre on Sept. 17 (two shows); San Francisco's Fillmore Auditorium from Oct. 21-23; New York's Beacon Theatre on Nov. 3 and more!
Aziz's most recent work was January 2010's Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening, an hour-long Comedy Central special. He also starred in the 2010 film Get Him to the Greek and is currently filming a comedy film called 30 Minutes or Less, which is scheduled to debut in August 2011.
Though Aziz Ansari is best known as Tom Haverford on the hit NBC television show "Parks and Recreation," he's also spent time performing stand-up comedy and has also acted in films like "I Love You, Man," "Funny People" and "Observe and Report."
Aziz was born to Indian Muslim parents in Columbia, S.C., and spent the first 21 years of his life at Marlboro Academy, the South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics, and the NYU Stern School of Business.
While attending NYU, Aziz began his career in stand-up comedy and was noticed by Rolling Stone as "Hot Standup" in 2005. He also won an award at HBO's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colo. for "Best Standup" in 2006.
He and a group of fellow comedians spent 2005-07 making short comedy films that eventually aired on MTV. The show ran for two seasons, but by the third season the group decided to go their separate ways.
In June 2008, Aziz made his big break into the entertainment world when he was cast for "Parks and Recreation." The show debuted in April 2009, and since then Aziz has taken home numerous awards like Entertainment Weekly "Breakout TV Stars" of 2009 and TV Guide's "Scene Stealer."
Also in 2009, Aziz began appearing in films, like "Funny People" with Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen. In 2010, he also had a part in Get Him to the Greek with Jonah Hill and Russell Brand. Throughout his time spent acting, Aziz has continued to return to his stand-up comedy roots, and he has toured at least once every year since 2006.
