This February, Avenged Sevenfold wraps up their North American tour in support of their fifth studio album, "Nightmare." The remaining tour dates stretch between Feb. 1 at the iWireless Center in Moline, Ill. through Feb. 13 at the Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore.
Along the way, Avenged Sevenfold also has gigs at the La Crosse Center in La Cross, Wisc. on Feb. 2; the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek, Mich. on Feb. 4; The Palace in Detroit on Feb. 5; and the Tyson Center in Sioux City, Iowa on Feb. 7. They will also be performing at the Taco Bell Arena in Boise, Idaho on Feb. 11 and the Toyota Center in Kennewick, Wash. on Feb. 12.
"Nightmare" debuted in July 2010 and features the popular songs "Welcome to the Family" and the title track.
Following their formation in 1999, Avenged Sevenfold went through two labels, four bassists and one albums before starting to receive recognition. For their third studio album, "Waking the Fallen," the group toured with Shadows Fall and Mushroomhead for the Take Action Tour.
After their second album, the group was featured in the Boston Globe and Billboard and snagged a slot in the 2004 Vans Warped Tour. Shortly thereafter, they were signed to Warner Bros. Records.
Under Warner Bros., they have released three studio albums: "City of Evil" (2005), "Avenged Sevenfold" (2007) and "Nightmare" (2010).
Their rise to fame came with "City of Evil," which snagged them MTV's Best New Artist Award, another slot on the Vans Warped Tour and their first solo tour. As of August 2009, the album has been certified Platinum.
Following a 16-month-long tour in support of "City of Evil," Avenged Sevenfold got to work on their self-titled album. This go-round, fans were treated to a grittier sound with more controversial subject matter. In fact one of the songs, "A Little Piece of Heaven," was only released to certain users online. Despite the controversy, the album was successful and remains popular for songs like "Almost Easy" and "Critical Acclaim."
"Nightmare," which debuted in July 2010, features more rock-centered tracks with longer songs. The album debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
