Alonzo King is widely considered one of America’s preeminent choreographers with critically acclaimed work in the repertories of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Joffrey Ballet. Based in San Francisco, his company LINES Ballet is celebrating 23 years of extraordinary dance making. White Bird last brought LINES to the Schnitzer in Fall 2001 with the unforgettable "People of the Forest" (collaborating with the Ba-Aka musicians of Africa). Alonzo King and his multi-ethnic company of strikingly beautiful dancers will return to the White Bird stage—now to the intimacy of Lincoln Hall—with a thrilling program displaying his unique fusion of classical ballet technique and the angular dynamism of contemporary dance, set to a wide range of music, from blues and jazz to classical and contemporary compositions.
