Alicia Keyes appears to be testing the touring waters with just a few gigs on the schedule in select locations between the end of February and early April 2010.
At barely 23 years olds, Alicia Keyes' hits and accolades are astounding. Her roots in soul, jazz, hip hop and R&B, along with her diligent study of music and years of vocal training have resulted in what music critics everywhere say is a talent that emulates Roberta Flack and inspires all walks of life. Even Bob Dylan remarks, "There is nothing about Alicia Keyes I don't like."
In her New York City, Harlem/Hell's Kitchen upbringing, she found refuge in staying inside and practicing her piano lessons from the age of seven. Her commitment to Beethoven, Mozart and Chopin, as well as her years in the School of Performing Arts in Manhattan paid off; who ever said that a musician must keep their day job needs to think twice now.
Her vocal coach Conrad Robinson introduced Alicia to his brother Jeff, who became her manager. The incubator of study and training that had been her young life hatched into her full- fledged commitment to a career as a musician. Out went the college plans for Columbia University. The only Columbia in Alicia's future was a signed contract with the record company of the same name. Her debut album, "Songs in A Minor," featuring her hit song "Butterflyz" written at age 14, was an instant sensation on the music scene.
She is no coward: following the infamous and influential Clive Davis (Arista Records and currently J Records) Alicia found her place among the chosen few. Her heart stopping performance of "Fallen" with the viewing audience of 40 million on the Oprah Winfrey Show put her hit at number two on the Billboard Hot list that year.
Since her chart-topping success, Keys has won numerous awards, including an MTV VMA, two Billboard Awards, two American Music Awards, two NAACP Image Awards, three Soul Train Awards, two World Music Awards, one ECCHO Award, and an astounding five Grammys for Best New Artist, Song Of The Year, Best R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Song, and Best R&B Album. She has tied Lauryn Hill's record for the most Grammys won by a female artist in one year.
Of her own success, Alicia says, "No matter who you are you have to protect your spirit, 'cause if your spirit is broken it's very hard to put it back together again?" Her invincible brilliance will, no doubt, give her many years of unprecedented success as the princess of Soul.
