On Sept. 18, Alanis Morissette began her 2008 "Flavors of Entanglement" tour, which will sweep across North America over the next two months.

Alanis will be performing her new single, "Not As We", on the CBS Early Show on Thursday, Sept. 25. Check local listings for CBS affiliates.

The tour will be composed of songs from her album, which is also titled Flavors of Entanglement. The album was her seventh studio album, and fifth album to be released worldwide.

Flavors of Entanglement debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 in June 2008. There have been 70,576 copies sold, as well as 44,000 downloads of the debut single "Underneath."
 
 
Alanis Morissette Background Information

Alanis Morissette made a name for herself in the early ''90s when she popularized the notion of angry female rock with her debut album, "Jagged Little Pill," the highest-selling debut album for any female artist in the U.S., and the highest selling debut album worldwide.

Morissette grew up in Canada, where she began playing the piano at the age of 6. She wrote her first song at the age of 10, and when local folk singer Lindsay Morgan heard, she became his prot?. Two years later she had her first experience as an actress with Nickelodeons "You Cant Do That on Television." She also got experience with the television show "Star Search," although she lost after the third round.

Morissette released her Canadian debut, "Alanis" in 1991, and was extremely involved with writing and production. The dance-pop collection went platinum, and she became known as the Debbie Gibson of Canada. Her next album in her home country was "Now is the Time," which was chocked full of ballads and not as successful as her first effort.

The singer moved to Los Angeles in 1993 after graduating high school, and she scored a deal with Maverick Records by 1995. Morissettes stay in L.A. was not a pleasant one: she was robbed on the streets and as a result developed intense panic attacks and general angst. She tried to correct the problems with psychotherapy, but she eventually just put all of her energy into her art, and very successfully.

"Jagged Little Pill" was released in 1995, and was a smash hit, propelled by the debut single, "You Oughta Know." The song was full of hate and angst towards a former lover, and the fans ate it up. Five more chart-topping songs followed off of the album: "All I Really Want," "Hand in My Pocket," "Ironic," "You Learn" and "Head Over Feet." The album stayed in the Top 20 of the Billboard charts for over a year, selling 14 million copies in the U.S. alone and thirty million worldwide.

Morissette was on the top of her game: she took home "Best Female Rock Vocal Performance," "Best Rock Song," "Best Rock Album" and "Album of the Year" from the Grammy Awards and she also took home six Juno awards, the Canadian version of a Grammy. After all of her critical victories, she took to the stage: the singer began touring to her millions of fans, with Taylor Hawkins on drums, who is now with the Foo Fighters.

After her U.S. debut, the singer performed on a number of albums, including Ringo Starr and Dave Matthews. In 1998 she recorded "Uninvited" for the "City of Angels" soundtrack, which was extremely popular. Later in the year she released the more experimental "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie," which included the hits "Unsent," "Thank You" and "So Pure."

In 2002 she released "Under Rug Swept," on which she was the sole writer and producer. The album included the hit singles "Hands Clean" and "So Unsexy." She followed that up with "So Called Chaos" in May of 2004, which had more of a pop sound. In 2005 she put out "Alanis Morissette: The Collection," and she plans to release "Flavors of Entanglement" in 2008.

With ten albums under her belt, Morissette continues to churn out explorative albums with beautiful melodies and intense lyrics. Her musical abilities matched with her ability to transform the energy on stage are quite a mystical feat.
